I don't order ubers for her, but she has the app on her phone and has access to our family account to order her own, which she does fairly frequently.

It's popular at DC's school, but the official school policy is not to release children to anyone not on the list of approved pickups. So the kids typically walk to a nearby shopping center and order Uber from there. I'm not ready yet for DC to do that.

I used to be anti-uber for a variety of reasons but have converted after having tried it myself and letting my teenagers use it. It is much easier than trying to hail a cab or calling one and hoping they show up. You get a picture of the driver and ID on your phone, and while there have been some problems with their drivers, we have had no issues and it seems like they would be pretty easy to track down. It is all done via the phone, no cash necessary though they are happy to accept tips. I think my son had one Uber driver who would not take him but he got another one pretty quickly.
