In 2012, there was one debate that conflicted ......... and in 2016 there are two debates conflicting with the football games.

What is the big deal about just scheduling them on dates that don't conflict?

Millions of us aren't sports fans. Football is on constantly. They replay games all the time. I think two nights of not watching football is going to be okay.

Not only were the debates decided on almost a year ago-- they were determined by a bipartisan commission that did not consult either campaign. They hold each debate on a different night of the week, avoid Friday nights because no one would watch, and this time avoid Yom Kipper. And football is four nights a year. No one rigged anything. And seriously-- if football is more important than the debate, TIVO the debate and watch the game. Or vice versa. Or watch the debate on the following Tuesday evening on YouTube. In this day and age, it's not that hard.

Trumps just chickensh@t.

He's taking a page from Hillary's playbook:

No press conferences in a year for her??
Why's that??

It is so bizarre that he would lie about something so easily contradicted. Is there really nothing that he won't blurt out regardless of the truth??

It's probably semantics. Someone connected to him was probably notified in some manner and he said he got a letter and they said they didn't send him a letter. I'm sure the NFL doesn't want it on at the same time as a football game.

I have trouble imagining Trymp actually watching football except maybe the cheerleaders.

Similar to what pp said, he is going to bring things like this up non stop to remind voters that the democratic primaries were rigged against sanders in favor of Clinton. Like it or not, he will probably end up having people think the democrats are up to their dishonest tricks...again.

Actually, this is the perfect set up for Trump. He will agree to the one debate that does not conflict with the NFL schedule and say that he is done with debates. He will then agree to do town hall meetings where the audience asks him questions.

His supporters and most Republicans will be fine with this and he will make his case against rigged debates - whether true or not - with independents and undecideds.

The Clinton campaign will cave on this .......... they want the debates more than Trump does.

Besides the Trump campaign will remind everyone of how the Democratic primary debates were rigged to take place to ensure the lowest viewership and proclaim that they are going to stop this happening in the general. It is an argument that will sell to the independents and undecided voters.

People who can't forego a football game or two are showing where their priorities are and that is just what Donald Trump wants from voters.

Because now they have NFL games on multiple evenings -- and college games on some of the other nights.

But we'll just forget about democracy because -- football
