Subject: At what age is it truly inappropriate for panties to show?
Kindergarten.
My girls didn't like shorts under dresses either, so we switched to skorts. They got used to them and now that they are schoolage are mostly into shorts/jeans.

I definitely would've been corrected to not sit like that. The mother said nothing. What do you do say?
If you wouldn't tell your son not to sit with his feet planted shoulder width, etc, don't tell your daughter to, either. Let her take up space in the world!

Yesterday my almost 4 year old was frustrated and for some reason her response was to pull the skirt of her dress up over her head and stomp her foot. I said "sweet pea, please don't show your undies" but no one in the grocery store seemed to care at all.

It was a joke, folks. But mark my words, in 10-20 years, it will be unironic. Just like a couple generations ago, people would be shocked at a 2 year old who was not potty trained.

I've been there. My boy is straight up and down with nothing to keep the shorts up -- or the undies, for that matter! My best solution is to keep his shirts long and covering up his waistline.
