Eh - it's just the way the schedule worked out this year. Parent/Teacher conferences are always the 11th and either the day before/after and they are always half days. Schools are always closed for Election Day (the big elections). You do know it's not MCPS's fault those days happened to fall in the same week, right? It made sense to put the Teacher Work Day that Monday. Would you rather have the Teacher Work Day on Friday, November 4th?
New Jersey schools always have a similar week in November as well.
