Biting bugs you are allergic to...but others may not be.

It's chiggers. We have been getting them too. They like warm places under your clothes and leave big welts that are super itchy

Under clothes are probably chiggers, but some people are allergic to biting gnats. They make big red welts on my skin.

Are you sure it's not bed bugs, echoing someone else.

When we had bed bugs, my husband had no welts, but I did.

They do not always bite in threes, but there are often multiple bites that appear tone in a line. (for me, it was often two bites, which by definition were in a "line").

But also, for us, and this is the key part - we finally realized they were bed bugs when we did a bed bug inspection. I would not wake up with welts - the welts would appear over the course of the day, so I did not immediately associate bed + bites in the morning = bed bugs. Plus with my husband not having welts it took us a while to figure it out.

OP, chiggers do cause lots of bites/welts near the bra/pants line. They do NOT live under skin. They are a type of mite (bright red) and they live outside. They often get on you if you are in the grass or tall foliage. They don't really "bite" like a mosquito and they don't drink blood. They eat your skin (gross, I know) and then drop off when they are done.

You can use DEET to keep them off of you. Take an antihistamine if the welts are bothering you. They'll go away in a few days.

Jiggers live under the skin; chiggers do not.

Yeah these sound like chiggers! I've been reading on them and it seems they are common in this area in the summer. TMI but I had 2 on my nipple that drove me insane for about 2 weeks. I also had them along my bra strap and my waist band of my shorts. I didn't associate mine with chiggers because when I had chiggers before (in Wyoming), they kept spreading around my legs. Whereas these are just two bites that didn't spread.

OP here, actually the bites are under clothes. I have one right along my back bra strap. My DH gets them working in our yard in some VERY UNCOMFORTABLE places as well. He wears boots and long pants, and we spray for ticks and mosquitoes.

This is true. I wasn't OP and didn't mean to take over her thread. Just that I was wondering the same thing and I'm sick of being bit constantly this summer. I have been researching chiggers and it seems they're common in this area. Mine looked somewhat like mosquito bites.

I think all the chiggers comments are for this poster, not OP.
