OP, chiggers do cause lots of bites/welts near the bra/pants line. They do NOT live under skin. They are a type of mite (bright red) and they live outside. They often get on you if you are in the grass or tall foliage. They don't really "bite" like a mosquito and they don't drink blood. They eat your skin (gross, I know) and then drop off when they are done.
You can use DEET to keep them off of you. Take an antihistamine if the welts are bothering you. They'll go away in a few days.
Anonymous wrote:OP here, actually the bites are under clothes. I have one right along my back bra strap. My DH gets them working in our yard in some VERY UNCOMFORTABLE places as well. He wears boots and long pants, and we spray for ticks and mosquitoes.
