It wasn't terrible. I like that it stands on its own and isn't a rehash of the original's plot. The pacing is just off. Nothing really happens in the first 2/3 of the movie. A lot of the jokes don't really land, so the movie just kind of trudges along. The last third, however, has a lot of visuals and is a lot more fun.
I took my six year old with me who wore her Ghostbusters costume there. There were a lot of kids ages 5-8 around us. They all seemed pretty bored. I think adults will enjoy it more.
Considering it's PG-13, wth did you bring your six year old along for? I do not understand this wanting to put that age-inappropriate shit in your kids' head.
I'm so glad that my parenting doesn't require your understanding or approval.

Agreed. Watched the original with the kids recently- forgot the scene where the pants are undone by a ghost, writhing ensues, etc.
I'm embarrassed that despite seeing the movie at least a hundred times over the course of my life that it didn't occur to me what the ghost was doing to Ray until I watched it with my four year old. I remember asking my mother when I was a kid and her nonchalantly saying that he had to pee and the ghost was unbuttoning his pants to make him pee on himself. It's a lie that I has now been passed down from generation to generation.

PP how are you seeing the faces of the other kids. It was so dark I could barely see my own kid sitting right next to me.
The movie was very enjoyable. My 7 year old came with us and he rally enjoyed it. It was a fun movie and a great way to pass part of a HOT Saturday.
