We had no A/C after the derecho a few years back and we went to a hotel within 36 hours of losing power. We let the kids sleep naked the first night - still a happy memory for them! - but it was just so miserable that we didn't want to tough it out any longer.

You are vastly overestimating both my abilities and capacity for effort here![]()

Yes, we can afford a hotel.
The thermostat is downstairs, which is reading 77. It is MUCH hotter upstairs. I don't know how much hotter but it's really very uncomfortable. Downstairs is just moderately uncomfortable. I would not be able to sleep upstairs like this.
Basement is currently being finished which I think may have something to do with why the AC isn't working, I have no idea really but no, that's not an option.
I don't need help with the 4 yo. Only mentioned that bc I know for some people, going to grandma's house would be like a little vacation where I could chill and she would be supervised. That is not the case here![]()
Just got a call that the AC person now can't come until tonight.. I'M GETTING SO FRUSTRATED!!!

If you have fans and can maybe point them directly at the beds, tonight might be hot but doable.
But honestly, I'd look on Hotwire for a cheap hotel in your zip code and do that. If it's too expensive, head to your mom's and deal with the a longer commute.
