They look cute, but they don't look wide enough to fit a folder or binder.

My small Kindergartener used the Hanna Andersson backpack and it worked out well. She actually had a lot less to carry in K than in preK because they didn't have nap time anymore and didn't need all that extra gear.

They do look so small to carry those huge bags, but the bigger size really is helpful for being able to fit everything. Lunch box, water bottle, folder, sweater for in case they get cold, room for the jacket if it gets too warm for it later in the day, shoes for later on days they wear boots to school, etc.

I like that my dd's has a little pocket in front that keeps her smaller stuff within easy reach. DC one card, hand sanitizer, lip balm, sunglasses, barrette,

I love the discovery backpack by LL Bean, but it's too large for my small kindergartener (she is dwarfed when she wears her sister's). However, the smaller sizes don't have a water bottle pouch which I consider a must have. The cheaper smaller character backpacks at target have flimsy water bottle pouches that break before the year is up. I guess I'll keep looking...

I'm buying a full size for K this fall.. My older child comes home with his jacket stuffed in his backpack most days and it has never been lost (yet). In the fall it's nice to have room to put an extra sweatshirt for those in between days. Both will go to a martial arts program so they need to fit their uniforms. You need it big enough if they become involved in some type of activity after school that requires them to bring things.

Anyone have the "small" Land's End backpack? My older kid finally pretty much grew into the medium in 2nd grade. Will the small fit a folder?
