There are no hard rules. Some men are afraid to appear desperate, or like they don't have a life, by immediately contacting you again.

So I guess a man shouldn't pay for a woman or hold the door either since she's done those things for herself in the past two right? I think more women need to be more secure in themselves so that common courtesies aren't viewed as a threat or slight to their independence.

Within 48 hours, you should here from him. As others have mentioned,a guy who is really interested and genuine will ask at the end of the date or at least text/call after to let you know that he had a great time and wants to see you again.

I'm PP who asked about texting to see if she got home safely. I think this sort of message here (I had a nice time) makes a ton of sense. But asking if she got home safely seems like a passive way of expressing thst interest, designed only to prevent the guy from actually expressing his interest. It doesn't seem very chivalrous to me, just weak.

It probably means that they have a busy job or could possibly be dating other people from the site.

If after two weeks of no 2nd date, I would concede the person wasn't too interested in me.

Its called being chivalrous. Some appreciate it, some don't however ALL men should of been taught it.

Heh, I think you are taking it too literally. It's just a socially acceptable way of initiating contact again, and expressing some emotional connection.

My husband is also very literal. Sometimes I have to translate hooman behavior/meaning for him.
