I had some European friends who just went to The View for a drink and had a really good time.

God no. Just no.

Why not?

NP here. Not sure about the hate. We took my daughter her for her 13th birthday and she loved it. We did too. Very unique experience.

Did you go during the day or night? Wonder if that experience makes a difference. The show starts at 7, so it would still be daylight when we go.

The naysayer is probably just thinking of it as a tourist trap and that there are way better places blah blah...
The thing is, if you're being a tourist, sometimes you gotta hit the tourist traps at least once in your life!

When I lived in NYC, a million years ago, I went on a couple of drink dates at the rotating bar there. It was fun! We did it sort of ironically, but had a good time.

Sorry - hit send too soon. After the St. Regis tea, do your broadway show. Then, after the show go for a slice somewhere.

Take her to afternoon tea at the St. Regis. It's awesome.

What's wrong with The View? We were thinking of going also.

Thalia - short walk to the theaters, and really great food, fun atmosphere & they do a great little birthday dessert!

For a 16 year old? If she likes bacon, Bar Bacon is in walking distance and really fun--trendy but casual, lots of good food ranging from traditional and familiar to more experimentall, etc. Took a 14 year old there for a pre-theater dinner and a good time was had by all.

I'm sad that Ruby Foo's closed. That was often our pre-theatre choice.

The Modern at MOMA. Really excellent, low-key/trendy for a high end restaurant, and fun location (inside MOMA). It's a few blocks from the theater district but we did it pre-theatre and it worked out great.
