I was at the PTA meeting, it is 100% true.

And the rising 1st grade is 51 kids in two classes. Biggest grade in the school.

It's just as popular as the other schools. Even more popular when you factor in the families trying to ge in on proximity from Eaton trying to avoid Hatdy and Murch families trying to avoid construction headaches. The boundaries were kept artificially small in the last boundary revision by DCPS trying to prop up the number of OOB students in the Deal-Wilson pipeline, but it's obviously not working.

We got in to Hearst IB off the wait list. I asked and was told that all but five slots went to IB, the five who got in were OOB with siblings at the school. At the moment they are full. I just took the last slot,

Janney is about 8 spots into the waitlist. We got bumped down 2 spots after the lottery, probably by siblings who moved in bounds. Including those 2, it's moved 8 spots.

Hearst is heading this way, they are projecting that they may not accept anyone off the waistlist for any grade. Of course that could change.

Wow PP, that sounds like a tremendous jump, particularly considering they added another class!

Here's one data point- up through this year there has been only 4 classes of PK4 (with 5 classes of each other grade.) While there was traditionally an IB waitlist to get into PK4, everyone (or almost everyone) got a PK4 spot who wanted it by August as things shuffled around. This coming year they opened up a 5th class for PK4. I recently spoke to the principal and asked if there was still a waitlist for PK4 or if they had extra space. Oh no, she said, we have more than 50 kids on the IB waitlist for 2016-17, she told me just the other day.
