Yes, I forgot the space lost to the stupid ice maker/water dispenser. Thanks for the reminder, PP.
One more reason the side-by-side is inadequate. (When we got our new French door model, we did not get a door dispenser. I hate them.)

I don't know a single person who likes their side by side fridge. Ours has ZERO freezer space since half of it is taken up by the stupid ice maker. It's also too narrow for things like frozen pizza/fresh deli trays, which sucks if you're having a party or anything like that. Nothing fits, it sucks!!! I'd rather have an old school freezer on top fridge than a side by side.

I hate it with a passion. Each side is too narrow. I loved my fridge in my old place - freezer on the bottom with a door.

OP here. All very good thoughts to consider. Much appreciated.
We have a chest freezer in the basement. It is a jumbled mess, but it does give us a spot to put oversized items like frozen pizzas.
