OP, if you do enough reading here you will quickly learn that everyone loves to moan about MCPS, but will post furiously to defend their own school if someone tries to put another school ahead of it for any reason.

Along with Haddonfield, US NEWS seems to think that Whitman is ok...albeit higher ranked.
Haddonfield Memorial High School is ranked #305 in the National Rankings and earned a gold medal. Schools are ranked based on their performance on state-required tests and how well they prepare students for college.
#15 in New Jersey High Schools
#179 in STEM High Schools
Walt Whitman High is ranked #63 in the National Rankings and earned a gold medal.
#1 in Maryland High Schools
#93 in STEM High Schools
The PP has a 6, 7 and 9th grader. I would imagine that her description and comparison was to her kids' experience in grades they have actually completed, not high school.

I'm not the pp you quoted, but I'm from NY. Compared to other pizza places around here, Mamma Lucia is a step towards the right genre of pizza. In any NY or NJ town, it would be maybe the third best option.
Pi and Beer (or whatever it is called on Wisconsin) is pretty good. It isn't NY style but still some of the best pizza we have had in the area.
NY transplant
Two amys in dc is much better than most pizza, including the one that i had in nyc when i lived there. It was ranked top 5 in some book where they tried all the top pizza in the vountry. Another I'd somewhere in arizona. Don't remember name but was on Oprah. The guy there is from Italy and a perfectionist who also goes home every as august when they shut down.
