Really like Clark

August makes me think of Auggie Doggie, and for some reason Jimmy Durante.

Clark makes me think of Superman and Supreme Court Justice Tom C. Clark.

Anthony rings Italian in my ear. The one Tony I knew growing up was a red-head of Italian decent (or so I always thought), and of course the Nationals Anthony Rendon ("Tony two bags")

Luke makes me think of a kid my son played baseball with.

I wouldn't have picked August except that my new nephew is named that and he's pure awesome, which just goes to show that your kid will make the name his own. But since you're asking for opinions, I like Luke the best.

I also thought of Augustus Gloop. I do like the name Gus though. I grew up with a Gus where Gus was short for Gustav, which I think is a little cooler. I think if you used August, he'd go by Gus and never want to tell people his real name. (Also August now makes me think of the writer/Pinnochio character on Once Upon a Time, which has become such an abysmally awful show that it is another strike against that name.) Also agree that "months of the year" names are now trending female (April, May, June...). Augustin or Augustine might be more masculine, if you're the type that likes a long name that is never used.

I like all the others. I suggested Luke for my son, but my husband (who LOVES Star Wars) thought it was too Star Wars and said he'd constantly be saying "I am your father" is a deep baritone.

Clark might be a little tough to carry off in certain areas of the country, but I think if you stay in the DC metro area, there's no such thing as a "geek name."

I also expect Anthony to be an Italian guy from New Jersey. I have never actually met anyone named Anthony in this area.

Luke only

I think these are all respectable names, hard to go wrong with any of them. In order of preference: Luke, August, Clark, Anthony.

Anthony is very English. Tony Blair. Anthony Hopkins. Tony Curtis. Sure it's Roman. But the Brits love their Tony's and their Nicks.

I like August. It's popular in Scandinavia so I think of a cute little blonde kid I don't like the nicknames for it, though, so I probably wouldn't choose it unless you are OK w/ him being called Gus or Auggie perhaps occasionally.

Clark is OK. It's my maiden name and we considered using it as a first but ultimately decided it was too nerdy and too Superman for us.

I really dislike the name Anthony and the nn Tony. I just don't like the sound of it. And FWIW, I've known plenty of Anthonys who were not Italian--including 3 Vietnamese Anthonys--so I really don't think of it as an Italian name at all.

Luke is my favorite on your list and the only one I'd actually use myself. I do like the name Luca as well if you're interested in a similar sounding name w/ a bit of a different vibe to it.

August is my favorite on your list. The others are just...boring.
