Even as a kid I thought they were bad. I remember Nancy McKeon playing a battered wife and thinking "Jo would never let anyone hit her!"

I look forward to my "Lifetime Weekends" as nothing is better than popping up some popcorn & lying in bed watching a good suspense/thriller.

Last night, I saw "Killing Mommy" which actually had a surprising twist involved.
*No Spoilers!*

Even though the final acts are usually the same, I still love these darn cheesy films.

I grew up a huge fan of the incomparable V.C. Andrews and appreciated their trilogy of movies from the books.

And the Lifetime movies I really enjoyed best are "Nanny Cam" & "The Housesitter."

I'll DVR a bunch only when I see they were made in the early/mid '90s, then have a Lifetime Movie binge watch. They were so serious and earnest back then!

I havent really watched a lifetime movie in years but just so happens I watched 2 in the past week and they were both really good. One was about a newly married couple that moves back to his hometown into a home he inherited from his prior wife. The maid who has always worked in the house is super weird and was a big fan of the first wife so she wants the new wife gone.

The other one was about 3 high school girls who try to get revenge on another girl for sleeping with one of their boyfriends. They take her to this remote location to scare her and end up accidentally killing her.

Both my Jewish mother-in-law and my priest uncle have DVRs full of these movies.

OMG, I love them all. And also ABC Family channel. I love when they do their 25 days of Christmas. My family thinks I'm totally weird because we do not even celebrate Christmas. lol

I think Lifetime movies deteriorated rapidly in the last 6-8 years. Last time I watched a bunch of them was 7 years ago while heavily pregnant and they weren't that awful! For some reason, the majority of plots were related to high school drama: bullying, cliques, pregnancies.. I remember the one where a girl was a track athlete and the coach was sexually abusing her; back in the day, those movies weren't half bad! At least they were somewhat grounded in reality, and the viewers could actually imagine events like that happening in real life.

These days the plots are completely off. About a month ago I stumbled upon the movie where this young guy shows up at this woman's doorstep and claims to be her son who was kidnapped as a child. When the family orders a DNA test, he forces the younger child in the family to give a sample, then walks in a lab that, of course, is empty, and switches his swab for that of the child.. I mean, c'mon!

I had a client telling me about her crazy life, then she digressed, talking about a friend... and just when I started to think 'this sounds like a lifetime movie...' the client was like...' wait... which friend of mine was that....' freezes and blushes 'oh, nevermind I think that was a lifetime movie'...

I LOL so long and hard... so clearly someone somewhere is watching and buying into the plot so strongly she thinks it's real.... probably remembered Valerie bertinelli or Hailey Duff wasn't her friend....

Ugh they are updating "Mother May I Sleep with Danger?" and it has a lesbian vampire theme. No. Just no.

This sounds amazing. I must watch.

I prefer the Christmas Lifetime movies because they are usually lighter and the woman is not in constant danger of being murdered.
