No one said he's not doing the work. He finds it a difficult subject to understand and a difficult one to get his butt to in the morning. Tutor and addressing organizational issues, but the kid needs to pull his weight. I think letting kids fail is more an approach when a kid
can do something, just chooses to blow it off.
If he doesn't manage to get himself to bed, up in the morning, carve out study time at this point, "letting him fail" will just be more discouraging to him.
