I would think this is not the norm at all since I would wager most kids who fail the comps would not do well during the year. Additionally, a student only needs a 60% to pass the comps which is not a high bar at all. Lastly, students get lots of practice with regular quizzes, tests, pre-comps, mock comps, teacher hours, etc.
Revising the charter would change the BASIS model completely which aims to prepare students to pass at least required 6 AP exams for graduation. If a student cannot pass a relatively easy comps, then how are they going to pass an AP exam? I don't see it happening nor do I want it to happen since I think different options/schools are good for students since not all kids fit into a same size fits all education.
