Ponyo--that mother was crazy! She drove like a maniac and left her little boy all alone during a major storm! I agree about Snow White but the five year old should be able to handle it.

We love this movie. There's one scene where the kids could be scared the first time they watch it. The younger sister meets Totoro for the first time (in a tree). A child might be scared by his large size and big teeth. (My kid was.) Within a few minutes it's evident that Totoro is cuddly rather than scary.

My 3.5 yo likes Toy Story and Frozen and to a somewhat lesser extent, Cars. She found Finding Nemo a bit scary but still watched it.

Three- and five-year olds are not toddlers. That said,

DS just turned 4 and he's watched and liked Monsters, Inc, Planes 2, and the Fireman Sam movies (free on Amazon Prime). He's watched but is not that into Cars and Frozen. On YouTube, he really likes the old school Rodolph the Red Nose Reindeer. Note that my kid doesn't scare easily. Movies around characters are better than cartoon people, IME.

I know other kids in the same age range who are really into Lorax.

I watched all dogs go to heaven for the first time recently. Definitely not for little ones. There are big bad gangsters, and the major lesson through much of the movie is that money buys happiness. I don't remember how film ends, but the way those dogs used the little girl to get rich really rubs me the wrong way.
