I think this is a truly arrogant view of one’s job in Congress.
And, while it may represent how many feel about their job, I truly believe we have members of Congress who hold true to their values and do their damnedest to represent the views of their constituents.
This Congressman takes a totally arrogant view of the voters. No wonder he views his role in Congress the way he does. If he doesn’t respect the people who voted for him, why would he go out of his way to represent them?
This makes me even more supportive of term limits. Get the dead wood the hell out of the Capitol.

One can't really equate Republicans and Democrats on this. You don't see many Republicans trying to move into poor neighborhoods. Gentrifiers are mostly liberals. Republicans on the other hand tend to stay as far away as they can. And, the more conservative an area is, the more segregated it typically is.

The number one issue going forward needs to be campaign finance reform.

If nothing else this underscores the need for campaign finance reform. Members of Congress shouldn't be spending all their time on fundraising. And we need to shut down this arms race of special interest lobbyists and corporate dollars that makes them vulnerable and beholden to outside interests.

Remember that the typical member of Congress gets elected to office with only around 160,000 votes. That's just 0.04% of Americans that selected that Congressman and put him in charge of national policy. And tons of the come from the hinterlands and backwaters of America, many with no real breadth or depth of experience or understanding of issues.

Republicans sure don't want to live among the poor. All they do is hurl insults and paint the poor as all just being a bunch of crackheads, welfare recipients and illegal aliens and threaten to make them starve homeless on the streets.
