I am the poster that OP is replying to. I was only speaking from my experience. Unfortunately, kids zoom in on differences and will exclude your child -- it happened to mine and that is why I warned you. My child was at Maddux -- pretty mild stuff going on there (at least when we were there). I am very sorry if I offended you -- please accept my apology.

No one here is saying they think some needs are 'worse' than others. But the BTDT people here are telling you that some schools are willing / equipped to take kids with certain needs and not others. That's all people are saying OP.

Okay. I feel like this is a little disparaging, honestly. I can't stand this board when people feel the need to rank special needs. Not quite sure why this is so much worse than all the other profiles out there, but alright, I guess.

In terms of non-medication things, have you tried a compression shirt or weighted shirts? That can help with sensory seeking...sometimes.

Lab does not take kids with this profile. You should look at Kingsbury but even they won't deal with these issues unless you put him on medication. If you look at Maddux, you want to be sure he won't stick out and or it will be hard for him to make friends, which will be stressful for him and you.

Well we have an aide at a private and I don't think we would have one in public. I hear you, though. Maddux said to come back when we medicated. So that's an option.

Most kids in SN privates don't have 1:1 aides. Kids who need that at that at 4 or 5 yo are in public school. That's probably why you are getting the answers you are.

If Maddux has already saisd no then Lab isn't an option. Sienna and Commonwealth don't start in K. So you have Kinsgsbury and Diener left. Is there anything else?

You need to hear that even special needs privates may not help as much as public with an IEP. Have you talked to your public school?

I really think you should try public. Private schools are not equipped for those issues.
