Different articles are saying different things. According the the article in the Guardian, he won the inheritance case in court and used the money for IVF. The article also states they adopted a child in the 80's who left for America and never returned. I believe in India adopted children are not always recognized by the rest of the family.

I can't imagine that egg and sperm donors expect their donations to be used this way. They want to help infertile couples sure. But who on earth (besides this crazy doctor) would help senior citizens get pregnant.
It would terrible for this to dissuade potential donors from helping people of child bearing age to have babies.

She's nuts and so is her doctor. 70 year old bodies are not meant to carry babies and she has probably reduced her own natural life with this pregnancy.
Hope the baby is cared for by someone regardless.

Right. I don't think people using IVF is bad. It's a wonderful resource. But two parents over 70 is what troubles me. On the other hand, if they were adopting, would I still feel conflicted? I'm not sure...
That's why I posted it. I was curious people's thoughts.

I think I'd have less of a problem with it if her husband was 50, and not 79. Old men have babies with much younger partners usually. In this case, BOTH parents are already beyond life expectancy for where they live. That's the part that troubles me.
And I still think old men having babies with young women are pretty gross. But at least one of the parents has a shot of seeing the child into adulthood. Here, not so much.
