Yes! So many farmers (both small and large commercial) are feeding their chickens high-omega feed, which usually included a bunch of flax seed or meal. It makes the eggs smell so fishy! I don't like most things where flax is snuck in... it has this same fishy smell. Ironically, I love fish. I just don't like things that aren't fish smelling or tasting like it.

People really waste time returning a $5 or 6 item? A perishable food item at that. Please value your time and limited life on Earth. Even a phone call complaining about this would be a waste of time. I can't even fathom driving to the store for a return (time, gas, 25 cent each mile depreciation on car). Throw a bad food item away and be done with it.

We’ve been noticing a consistent bad smell/ taste from our Costco eggs. It’s not one batch, it’s every batch now..
Not sure if it’s the Costco butter that I cook them in or the cast iron pan maybe.
Can’t figure it out.

I dunno who bumped up this old thread, but I feel better about buying the regular Costco eggs.

I get irrationally annoyed at reviving 2 yr old threads. To talk about the eggs you bought yesterday (in 2017).

I have often noticed a bad taste (metallic) and a fishy smell in Costco organic eggs. My husband insists on using them to save money, but I think they are not worth the cost savings. I have wondered about the chickens’ feed being the cause. Whether it has a higher omega content, I don’t know. If I were to find out the stinky eggs are healthier, I still would not prefer their taste.

This. I can't eat those eggs b.c of the fishy odor!

I have been buying Costco Organic eggs for years, I haven't noticed any bad smells. I have stopped buying them because out of the last 8 packages 4 have contained many eggs that have had a strange plastic taste after cooking, I have also notice the egg whites seem very watery and I see more and more brown spots that I pick out, and even a solid piece of I don't know what.

Don’t get high and mighty about free range either. Just means there is a door. Chickens may never use it. It may lead to a concrete outdoor area. It isnt necessarily happy running free chickens.

Pastures? Maybe. But also not a regulated term.
