Surprise! The hotel is sold out and we are not going to NJ.

Glad I booked Rehoboth for the night already. Our pool opens that weekend so it will be a low key weekend.

I ended up booking 1 night in Rehoboth and at least plan to hang out with our other friends for a few hours and maybe go fishing. We were originally going to go to NJ Sat-Mon with them anyways. Our local pool opens Memorial Day weekend so it is totally fine to stay local.

I am highly annoyed that she is keeping us hanging. I won't be making plans with them in the future. I would write her off but I really like my friend. She is great with last minute plans.

Agree with others, this would put them on the no travel list for me as well. Fine for last minute trips, but not for planning in advance. If you can't count on them to follow through with their plans, what's the point?

Call her. Who the hell knows why she's doing this, but she's not giving you satisfactory answers by text - so, phone call.

Agree with the others that this would get someone on my don't travel with list. Though, to be fair, I think sometimes I have been the one to be flaky like this - and it's usually because I am ambivalent about the plans.

Sounds like she's hoping for a better offer.

What's the reason? is she just a flake? or she's waiting to see if she gets a better plan?

OP, she needs to be on your no travel list. This is the second year in a row she has done this? No - make your travel plans and keep it moving. She is going to flake again.

In an email, state a date by which you need confirmation or you and DH will need to make other plans.

I'd just do whatever I wanted to do independent of the friend. If she joins she joins. If not, then nothing lost because we're doing what we want anyway. Sounds like she likes the idea of going but can't pull the trigger for some reason...money, husbands vacation schedule, some other reason.

Hi would either offer to book it for her (like the pp said,if you are confident she would come and/or pay in the end, or else I would tell her look, our other friends have invited us to join them in Rehoboth, so if you still aren't sure about this then we math change our plans. I hate traveling with other people who can't commit and it sounds like this is her MO.

She absolutely knows we are waiting for her to book. We have made plans with her twice before. One time we booked separately and everything was fine. Last year we tried to go to the beach together. Almost identical to what we are trying to do now. We chose a hotel and dates. I booked a month or so prior. She waited until the last minute. Can't remember if it was 1 or 2 weeks prior and of course rooms were sold out. Our family had a great time anyways so we didn't mind but I don't want to make the same mistake again.
