Married and have a child. Never got the time to arrange for a nice frame and picture combination for my desk. I have a mug with my daughter's picture on it. And a California wineries map at my back board. But I made a collage for my husband for the last father's day, with pictures of him and our daughter, he has it on his desk

I think now many people have the photos as a background on their laptop or on their phones--and offices have become more shared. Not strange.

If OP feels out of it, just put a photo of you and your significant other up, or you with your family and/or friends. Sometimes I think people use photos and other objects to make conversation and try to get to know others.

At 28 I had no family photos since my family at that point was my parents and siblings and that just seems weird. Now at 46 I have one picture for each of my kids plus one of DH with them. My office tends toward personalizing the desk space and most people have some photo, if only of their dog, spouse, favorite vacation spot.

It's pretty common in my profession to not have family pictures in one's office. I'm a psychotherapist.

I got married when I was 26 and had a small candid picture from the wedding on my desk until recently. I have my kids' most recent school picture facing towards me. Wedding picture is gone because my husband cheated on me so I don't like to look at the wedding picture (working on it - the marriage, not the picture ).

Of my colleagues, everyone over 35 or so has family pictures. Seems like 30-35 is hit or miss, and under 30 it's rare. Not sure if it's a generational thing or just because the older you get, the more kids you have, etc.

I've got two kids I love madly and no pictures of any family anywhere. Not weird at all.

20 years ago, I would expect to see family photos in every office. Office work has changed a lot since then; things are a lot less comfortable and people don't seem to personalize their space as much as they used to (if they have a defined space of their own at all).

Sign of the times.

I don't think it's weird. I don't have photos either.

No photos on my desk. But I do put a photo of my kids as the desktop background on my computer. I change it periodically (like every few months) to a more recent photo.

I didn't put a pic up until DH and I were engaged. I was 28. We've been married 2 years now and I still have the same pic up. Never even occurred to me to change it, I barely look at it. Pretty sure I do it because you're supposed to but I could do without. I see him every day *shrugs*

+1. I have a single picture of my DS when he was 7 days old on display. He's now almost 4!

I used to have my own desk up until a few years ago. I didn't decorate much and no pictures.

Now I get whatever desk or table is available when I get there. I have my travel mug and my laptop. Maybe I could tape a picture to one of those.
