At our school Level iii are full-time in a classroom with the LLIV kids who chose not to go to the center. There are lots of kids receiving level II as pullouts or in-class supplemental activities but necessarily fewer level iii. Every school is different.

In our school, Level III is a pullout and they may do some math-oriented activities, but it is more like problem-solving. For instance, earlier this year they did a segment on innovation and developing new products/ideas to better meet the needs of consumers - i.e., think IDEO and how they work to improve everyday products (google Nightline segment on IDEO and shopping carts). I know students who get pulled for advanced math do not do Level III AAP in the target language.

So, do all schools offer an opportunity for advanced math in third grade? How are students selected for this? Is there any flexible grouping for subjects generally?
