+1, Our mortgage is about $2000, utilities are $400 or so in Maryland for a small house. We could rent a room out if needed.
I'm a single parent. I own a small 2br house with a basement (that has an extra room if needed) and my mortgage is $1600/month. I'm not in a desirable part of town, but it's perfect for us.

I am guessing OP that you are recently divorced/single?
Anyway , you have put way, way too much personal info online about your situation. It's fine to post for roommates but you do not need to provide that much info.
I posted above that roommates do not make a stable home environment for young kids. You really need to think this option through and consider the impact it might have on your child. You are inviting random strangers into your home to live for maybe a few months, a year or two. This is in no way ideal. I could see renting out the basement but I wouldn't try making that person a roommate. Just have them as a renter and keep them separate from your family life.
If the house is too expensive for your to manage on your own, it is far better for you to move now why your DD is young and resettle into a new place of your own.
She can do a background check, check references. People invite nannies into their homes every day leaving their most precious possessions as long as she is smart about it that would be fine. But I think you'll do better with the basement as well due to the privacy though I love the Kate and Alley co-op idea!

I agree with PP. it is a very Kate & Allie kind of thing. I hope you find good roommates!
