Also, it is possible, depending on the state, to get a controlled rx filed in another state. It is at the pharmacist's discretion (as it is their license on the line) and they will often call the doctor to verify, but it is possible.

Also-- if the CVS there is being difficult, they could refuse to fill the out of state Rx for a controlled drug. And your MD can't call it in down there. I wouldn't risk it.
We have had this problem with CVS.
Hate hate hate cvs.
You get incompetent person after incompetent person when you call them. They can be polite but they have no idea what they are doing but they advise you on what to do anyway and around and around you go.
If you get your scrip filled somewhere else they refuse to pay for it after you've filled it once. They say to use their mail order service now and that's when the fun starts.
I once had my doctor call in a scrip, faxed it in, emailed it - they claimed they never got it. This went on for a month.
Then they sent me half the prescription only. And they sent a generic that I didn't want. No refund. I said why did you send a generic and they said Pennsylvania law allows sending a generic without asking you . Um, but we live in Maryland. Apparently we're supposed to know that they send all of their meds out of Pennsylvania to make the biggest profit?
Great that they seem to be buying out all the other pharmacies?
Total nightmare.
Wait a second. You found polite people at a CVS? Do tell. Every person I've deal with is incompetent and rude. And yes-- believes I'm a drug addict because DC has an Adderall perscription. Also, just for fun, they won't take the perscription until DC has one pill left, and then say that it is out of stock, and they don't know when they can get more. But won't order the meds in advance and then fill the perscription when it comes due. I once got upset about this when we were dealing with Christmas travel (not yelling and screaming, just upset with the situation," and the pharmacy tech told be I was an "fu@ked up bitch." I complained, and He was fired. But still...
Screw CVS.
And agree with PP-- Rite Aid is so much better to deal with.

If the doctor is aware of your trip and can call and verify it, most pharmacists would be willing to fill the script early.

I'm pretty sure you can only fill prescriptions for controlled medications in the same state in which they are prescribed.I once got my script for my adderall refill the day before I was scheduled to travel to California (I live in Austin, TX). Both the pharmacy where I usually get my prescriptions filled & the next two I tried were temporarily out of adderall in the dosage I needed so I asked the pharmacist if I could just get the prescription filled in California & she said no, because adderall is a controllled substance, the prescription could only be filled in Texas.
It's possible these regulations very by state & OP can, in fact, get an adderall prescription written by a doctor in Maryland, DC, or Virginia filled in Florida but I doubt it.I 'd check with your pharmacist before planning on getting the prescription filled out of stateas you don't want to find out too late that this isn't possible.

Anyone else tired of being treated like drug addicts just because we need to fill ADHD prescriptions? Why can't the scripts be sent electronically so that any pharmacist can see the prescription and know that it is a legitimate script? Dealing with paper scripts, calling various pharmacies to see if they have the ADHD medicine in stock only to be told that that they can't disclose that information over the phone, the stress involved ensuring that scripts are filled prior to vacation because out-of-state pharmacies won't fill the scripts -- is absolutely exhausting and discriminatory!

This would be the cas for most medications but because adderall is a controlled substance the pharmacy may not be allowed to give a refill early -- even if paying out of pocket -- without the prescribing doctor's consent.
