This is where the heroin epidemic started, sadly. Heroin is cheaper and easier to get than a painkiller prescription (unless you are famous, then no one says no to you).

It sounds like whatever happened was pretty quick. He must have passed out in the elevator and never woke up.

How about a pulmonary embolism, aneurysm, cirrhosis of the liver, cancer, or anaphylactic shock?

I hadn't seen pictures of him in a while, but he looked thinner and tired. It's possible he just was going downhill due to a combination of things. If he was forgetful or sleep deprived, he could have accidentally OD'ed while trying to control the flu or pneumonia and hip pain. I don't think he knew it was coming. His statement about not wasting prayers on him made it seem like he thought he'd be better in a few days.
