No, you don't need to. We've been trying for a long time and sometimes the timing is just "duty sex" and I want to get it over with quickly. I have gotten pregnant on such occasions.

For your own sake, however, you may want to read up on self-pleasure. No need to forego an orgasm just because your husband can't give you one. My husband is not lazy but although he's eager, he's not especially talented in that arena, so sometimes I will do for myself and we both enjoy that. At 36 you should definitely concentrate on yourself, not just your husband.

None of my IUIs with clomid worked. Both fresh IVF cycles worked (I lost the first one at 8 weeks, second one is now 6 months old), and I froze two embryos.

I had two IUIs in 2012 then we moved and tried on our own for a while longer (unsuccessful). Then three IUIs in 2015 (all unsuccessful). This year we decided to make the IVF leap (egg retrieval -> PGS -> single FET) and I got my BFP two days ago (beta 1022 at 13dp5dt). I'm glad I tried the IUIs first; even though I was expecting IVF to be much more involved, it was even more taxing on my body, emotions, and time than I had anticipated.

Vitamin D
HSG*- this I think ks what worked for us, I got pregnant same cycle. Tubes were clear but it took the dye a little while to come back out. The RE says she gave my pipes a good flushing!

IVF - 3 round of IUI failed. IVF. If you are 38, time is the enemy.
Signed Mom of 2 from a monster (26 eggs) egg collection. considering doing it for a third baby.

I had a lot of chemical pregs after my 1st kiddo so I knew there wasn't a conception problem and all my test results were normal, so I got IVIG treatment and within the month a pregnancy stuck!

Unexplained infertility and did 3 rounds of iui before going with IVF. Pregnant first round with my now four year old.

For DC2 did three rounds of IVF and then pregnant - DC now 2.

At 38 would consider jumping to IVF as soon as possible.

Unexplained here. acupuncture, 6 failed iui cycles, 2 ivfs for kiddo #1. Two years later, acupuncture getting ready for ivf #2. Refused to temp and time intercourse as I was saving my emotional strength for IVF. Pregnant after 2 1/2 months of starting acupuncture.

Unexplained infertility here. Trying for 22 months. 5th IUI -- second with injectables after 3 failed Clomid/IUI cycles and 3 Clomid/trigger cycles -- worked for us. Suspect it was endo-related, because got pregnant on the second month of trying the second time around... now waiting to see if it sticks (sadly, some reasons to think it might not; but things are looking somewhat up at the moment, statistically).

Natural cycle IVF (with ICSI) worked for us on the first try, after four failed IUIs.

IUI (medicated w/ Letrozole) worked for us on both our 2nd and 3rd tries (#2 ended in an early miscarriage, #3 is twins who will be here any day now).
