Moth larvae eating cotton and wool?

I don't mind most bugs, had some caterpilars by the back door, few came in, but falling out of a box that you ordered? That is weird. Sounds like that Supernatural monster show!

I have seen some small caterpillars in my house, too.
I am in Ffx County.
I don't think I have seen any coming out of Amazon boxes, though.

OP here. Nope. Mine doesn't have the black body and red head. Apparently soldier beetles are beneficial though, so that wouldn't be terrible.

That's a really pretty moth! I wish I had those - wouldn't mind it so much. But those caterpillars are completely different from the ones I have, unfortunately.

OP here. I don't think so, though it does look similar. The black carpet beetle larvae doesn't have patterns on its segments and these caterpillars do. They do look very similar though. I think it's more likely to be some type of moth.

I'm starting to feel slightly worried that no one else has this problem though. It's just us?

I googled it and "my" caterpillars don't have hair sticking out. Mine are more lightly fuzzy, like velvet. And I keep seeing them near doors and windows, not in the kitchen/pantry.

By the way, every time someone gives me a suggestion, I google image it and then I'm treated to more and more images of bugs. I feel slightly nauseous. I do appreciate it though!
