When I adopted the cat we started off with top of the line foods, including wet. He had stomach issues on the top of the line foods. Refused top of the line wet food, they were/are a waste of money. I'm going crazy trying to feed this cat because he will not eat anything but junky cat food. I can't figure out why the good stuff upsets his stomach and the cheap stuff he is fine with.

OP here. This brand and Blue Buffalo gave the ferocious house jaguar FEROCIOUS gas and loose stools. It was not a good fit. We went grain free, but I found it upset his delicate jaguar stomach. He will not touch wet food, which is not cool. Turns his nose up and walks the other way, leaving me to toss the food. So far I've found he likes Purina One... which seems to be not of the best quality I could be offering to him, but it did stop the gas and upset stomach issues.

He also refuses treats, which only makes sense since he refuses to cuddle. Why accept treats from me and then have to reward me with love, right?

That's interesting. My cat refuses treats too, she has zero interest in them. We had a different cat previously who had terrible bowels whatever she ate, I think some cats are more sensitive than others. Our current cat just can't handle milk. Vomits. So she is lactose free and I think the Blue Buffalo she has is also grain free, but I could be wrong.

Dry food is good for their teeth, anyway. Weird that grain-free caused gas!

And I am the lunatic who went to Target to return the unopened cans of the flavor that our cat didn't like. I exchanged them for her favorite flavor - turkey and giblets!

We recently adopted our cat from a shelter which was feeding her a mix of Friskies wet and dry. We are feeding her the same thing for now, but we plan to gradually transition her to a higher quality food. My crazy cat lady coworker gave me a sample of Taste of the Wild venison so we will see how the cat likes it. We have her first vet appointment this Saturday so we will ask if the vet has any recommendations.

I give mine two meat meals each day, and I started this two years ago at the advice of a vet who told me that it would stop the vomiting issue (it did!), and was better for them. One meal is usually raw beef, and the other is cooked cold chicken (I cook the chicken every few days and don't heat it up for them; they don't seem to care, but love it). If we have scrambled eggs in the morning, one cat gets that for one meat meal; the other cat won't eat eggs. If you feed meat, you have to make sure they get some raw every day because cats need taurine, which is best accessible to them in raw meats ("bought" cat food is supplemented with taurine).

They also get one pack of wet Sheba a day. I know this is not the most high quality of foods, but the vet says it is fine because of the meat, and that giving any commercial cat food will function as a "multivitamin" for meat-fed cats, ensuring that they don't miss out on any of the key nutrients with which commercial pet foods are supplemented.

Yes, I know I am a crazy cat lady...but my meat-fed cats got so shiny and sleek after switching to real meat.

Another one here for Blue Buffalo, indoor adult cat food both dry and wet. She's 2 years old now and has been eating this since she turned 1. Along with any paper or plastic wrappers she finds in the house - !

wet food is about 75% water which reflects cats' natural diet, compare to only about 10% in dry food. more protein in wet, more carb in dry. more diabetic, UTI, and other medical issues with dry food.
