Actually, this is exactly what happened to us last year: 2 weeks into the DCPS school year but before our NW independent school started. We'd gotten tuition insurance, and it would have covered it as long as we attended 2 weeks, but since it would have been for a financial reason, the coverage, as I recall, was only 40% of the remainder. The DCPS was willing to at least consider us enrolling 2 weeks later than planned, so that the missed days won't count as absences, but in the end, we ended up staying.
