Yes, this all day, I feel like I am about to flip a table when a meeting crosses over the 2 hour mark.

Have you been reprimanded for not paying attention during meetings?

Were you tasked with note taking, dazed off, and provided crummy notes?

If so, this rule was created to keep you on task (and sadly, everyone else has to suffer the consequences).

The problems you describe are unlikely related to water bottles. The punishment does not fit the crime. It might even be counterproductive.

I'm not making this up. I know someone who continuously was reprimanded for not paying attention during meetings where they were tasked as note taker (due to their admin position). This person most certainly was distracted by their drink. Drop the pen. Pick up the drink, sip, hold the drink, etc. Notes were incomplete.

So, start going to the meetings and then every half hour, excuse yourself to get a drink of water, go down the hall, get a drink and come back. See how long before the rule changes.

+1 what a tyrant.

That's friggin insane. I would totally get a doctors note to piss him off. Actually, I'd complain to HR.

First, you need to raise your hand.

Second, you need a note from mommy. Notarized.

Then, and only then, do you get the special key.

Phones, laptops, and even food make sense. I don't bring any of those to most of my meetings. But I ALWAYS bring a drink. Sometimes two (coffee and water).

I'd die in a 3 hour meeting without water. I probably drink at least 8oz an hour.

Yes I suppose I'm a millennial but I'm capable of listening, writing notes and occasionally sipping water.
