I was wondering if parents of kids not yet in school were actually going to these because it's more important to them than current students.
The plan to move kids to Dufief is in 2021. So current rces kids will be in middle school by then. It felt like the county wasn't reaching the parents of preschoolers who really would be affected by this move.
And as a pp said, even being close to rces is no guarantee for going there. This was also stated at the meeting with the superintendent.
We only moved to Lakelands a few months ago, so we're trying to catch up on all of this. Our child is still very young, and will start elementary school in 2020, so I suppose we could be some of the first to experience all of this.
We will definitely plan on attending any future meetings, to keep abreast of the current plans.
Oh, okay. Mine is starting K this year. Some things are still undecided, such as whether the kids moved to Dufief will go on to Frost and Wootton or come back to Lakelands Park and QO. I also remember them saying at the meeting that there are big uncertainties in the timeframe of 2021 because it hinged on whether the funds were available to make the structural changes to Dufief. It's possible it will happen later than planned.
I will tell you that RCES is a great school but very overcrowded so this may not be such a bad thing. I have one child there now.

Hmm, I wasn't aware that high schools might change. Not going to complain about Frost or Wootton ... the concern for me would be Dufief. My question about sending the kids to Wootton would be how to deal with capacity there, though I know there are boundary discussions happening across the County, so maybe the idea would be to deal with it by rejiggering elsewhere.
Projected future capacity at Wootton is under capacity. That's one of the reasons they are looking rezoning the QO cluster to Wootton.
