I'd cut the trip to two weeks and pay for the missed slots if necessary.

We have never taken off more than a week from OT but I doubt she would give away our slot if we gave her plenty of notice. I know for a fact she holds spots for other clients as my kids have sometimes been offered them temporarily. Our ST used to allow us to take month long breaks when my son was simply burned out. Sometimes this did result in a change of appointment slot but she always had a slot to replace it with. I think the policy might be different for those who are newer to their practices or haven't proved reliable.

We did have this experience at our psychology practice. They told us we couldn't keep our spot if we took off too many weeks in the summer.

That is a really unreasonable policy.

If the trip is close by, come home for one session.

This was my first inclination, too. 2 weeks is no small trip, and perhaps you could stagger it to get in 2 weeks and a few days depending on when your appointments are? If that's really the policy and they won't be flexible, and you have developed a relationship with them over 4 years, it seems the best thing for everyone (mostly the kids) is to cut the trip to 2 weeks and return without penalty.

Why not just camp for two weeks?

My kids' practice has a policy of requiring people to make up sessions. Frankly I'm more than sensitive to their desire/need to maintain consistent income.

Ugh, sorry to hear this, OP. We are also at the same center and plan to stop in June. We have an 8am appt that you can take!
