I'm a female and I'm not SUPER into golf, but I do enjoy it and I can see how someone could play 5 days' worth. It might seem boring if you've never played it and especially if you're not athletically inclined. But it's a really nice time spending a few hours with your friends, outside on beautifully manicured grounds, a little friendly competition and maybe a few drinks.

I'm glad I married a man who's not golf-obsessed because from what I've seen me and my children would lose weekends and more with him. I'm fine with him taking a guy's weekend here and there but up to a week in addition to weekly time away is excessive.

Mostly for work or semi work but I am away playing golf at least 30 days a year.

DW can take whatever girls or tennis trips she wants. No big deal. Very healthy.

Personally, I think its strange that couples forbid each other from girls/guys trips. It would be a deal breaker for me to be married to OP. Hopefully, these people who insist all the individuality ends at marriage find each other.

Do you really play golf every day? I guess part of it is that I don't get golf. It seems like such a waste of time, especially to be away from your family for that long.

I take golf trips with my girlfriends ~ and also compete locally which means my husband has to chip in more and help out with the kids on days where I compete. My husband supports this just like I support his once a year golf trip with his college friends.

You see, OP, while you're silently feeling superior to others for not having husbands that would never do anything for themselves, others are thanking their lucky stars they have husbands that do.

I want my children to learn that the whole world does not revolve around them, and that even mommy and daddy are their own people. I want to show them that you can be in a happy relationship and not lose yourself to the other person. I want to teach them that doing things that make you happy lead to you being happier for everyone else. That love is trust, giving space, and two people who work together, but are still people who are different.

But hey- that's how I want to be. So you be you, OP. But maybe realize that other people are being them, and living their lives under different ideals - but living just as happily.

if the husband and wife are ok with said trips, its none of your business. unless you know the wife complains on the side to you (or any other wives), you may have something. other than that, tend to your little marriage and be happy.

I loved it when my man was away on business trips. I did exactly what I wanted to do, with no one else around to interfere. Now, he takes me on his business trips to nice places and i have an even better time. I have become a part of his business crowd and he likes it.

OP probably judges you. She and her husband are such perfect and amazing parents they probably think anyone who wants to spend time away from their kid is a horrible person. Well at least op thinks that. Didn't you catch her "my husband would never willingly spend time away from his family"

And what about people who travel for work? Should they not be away from their families either? I used to come straight home from my trips, but now if I want to tack on an extra day or 2 to see a friend or a new city or just relax, I do it. Kids survive, husband survives, I'm happier and feel less like a working mom automatron.

I have friends whose husbands do golf trips away too. She CAN take similar weekends if she wants too. I assume? For me, it would be a non-issue. I wouldn't mind if my husband did this, as long as i had opportunity to do the same.
