Anonymous wrote:OP, I would take the spot. Make sure you are into bilingual education and Montessori. And of course the commute. But I would never pay for private school (especially for more than one kid) over LAMB. LAMB feels like a private school, with the added diversity bonus. And my husband and I feel like we one the powerball every single day. The $100k parent fundraising for such a small school (without an auction and for the third year in a row) should give you an idea of how beloved it is by those who attend.

+1. To give you an idea of how strong the LAMB community is, they just had the annual fundraiser, and had 100% participation, and raised over $100,000, with no one selling anything (no selling cookies, auction, etc).
$100k with no auction? That's impressive.

You can also observe the classroom at any time. If you put a deposit down at a private, I would go there since you were obviously more serious about going to whatever private school you were considering.
Why would you say that? OP was playing her odds. What makes you say "obviously more serious..."? Anyway OP, I'd forget the deposit. Getting into LAMB is a long term decision for your DC and sibling. I wouldn't blink twice about losing the deposit. Hundreds of people would pay what you paid as a deposit times 10 for a long term solution like Lamb for two kids.
