For first grade, I don't know that whether or not they teach evolution really matters. I doubt many first graders in any school system discuss evolution. I think my dd's first grade science had something to do with balls and ramps.

There is strict evolution that doesn't involve divine influence. There is strict creationism which says the earth was created in 6 24-hour days as outlined in Genesis. There is a also intelligent design where the idea seems to be that God caused the big bang and guided evolution. I would check with the school to find out more details of their approach.

Did everyone miss this is first grade? How much history or science goes on in any first grade? Maybe they observe that lighter things float in water while heavier ones drop or perhaps even make a volcano.

For the first grade this curriculum would be okay. They'll make sure she knows reading and phonics and Saxon is a solid math program. You would have to pull her later--say after third grade or so if you want her to get a real history and science education.

By definition, science from a creationist perspective is not science

You do not understand the definition of evolution. Evolution is the change in species over time. It can happen through natural or artificial selection. Whether this results in a new species is a different question, but not one that is disputed within the scientific community.

It's weird when you realize that nothing is new . Science is ancient and already exists . We don't invent anything , we just discover principles and concepts that were always there waiting to be found like a scavenger hunt for our amusement . Everything we ever learn in the future is already here . Time itself may just be a creation for our sanity. A sequence of events may only be created for tiny intellects to function.
