Check out Watkins Glen and the Gorge. At the base of Seneca Lake. Cute town, but you want to avoid it if it is a race weekend. Their are a ton of wineries up and down the lake. Their are wineries on all of the finger lakes.

I second Corning Museum of Glass. The Cornell campus is beautiful. Hit the Plantations for a picnic.

I should mention the excellent children's museum in Ithaca, as well. 4yo DS had a blast.

Also, the children's museum in Rochester is outstanding.

If you like Mckenzie-child furnishings , the home store is one lake over from Skaneateles. Fast and easy to get there and a pretty setting.

We went to the Finger Lakes during a road trip a few months ago, and had an amazing time. We stayed with friends in Romulus on Lake Seneca. It was gorgeous. We spent one afternoon in Watkins Glen, and another doing nothing but wine tasting and eating.
