Ask around among your friends before you give them away to a clinic. I had the wonderful fortune to be able to help a friend who was in the same boat. I offered her my leftover drugs, her doctors made sure the drugs were appropriate for her and it worked! Going through infertility sucks but that little girl is my silver lining.

I will just note that I believe all prescription drugs are controlled substances under Virginia's statue. One of the "schedules" lists all prescription drugs. Virginia law and federal law differ on that point. I don't know what Maryland and DC say.

My nurse at SG told me to bring in expired vials instead of discarding them. They use them for practice during the injection classes.

Yes. I have been on the receiving end of free/emergency drugs from SG. They ask that you 'replace' or replenish what you've gotten if you're waiting for a prescription. When I was done this last time, I gave away a good variety of stuff to my nurse. I trusted them to do the right thing. They have never attempted to sell me anything. They make PLENTY of dough. Black market drugs would be a big risk for them and their reputation.

My clinic only accepts unopened/unexpired drug. So, when I had one Gonal-F pen (opened but used just for 150iu of 900iu), I felt so wasted to threw out this left over. I posted it on craigslist (yeah, this may not be ideal), and someone responded and was able to give away for free.

OP whatever you decide, please do not discard the drugs. Some of us don't have insurance coverage and you should donate to your fertility office. Talk to your nurse, she will take them.

Again, NOT the same thing. This is talking about controlled substances, which are ENTIRELY DIFFERENT than prescriptions.
