Anonymous wrote:OP, here's a hint: The schools that go all-out with bands, glitter and pomp and circumstance at these things, generally have to. If your DD doesn't accept at NCS, they have plenty of people waiting in line behind her. They don't have to put on a show for you. You take them, or you don't.

I don't believe in homework on the weekdays in lower school and even other Big 3 schools do not have homework on the weekends.
+1 and as such really reconsidering

OP here. Thanks for all the comments. I don't "care" about he freebies at all. In fact, we are accepting NCS and spent some money on gear last night! It was noticeable, I'd already gotten magnets from other schools and wanted an NCS one.
There was definitely a lot of talk about homework, but somehow I just can't believe it's that bad. All of the students seem really happy.
I have no idea if it is more than at other schools.

And I find it strange that they never sent anything (no letter with glitter, no backpack or magnets). Even at the reception, all of the "swag" was for purchase. Anyone else notice any of this, or am I the only one looking for freebies? Just kidding, of course, but I did feel a different vibe...
