There is no need to end up there or even to desire to, but it would be nice not to limit the kid's options before she is even born.
Only someone unintelligent will dismiss someone solely based on what their parent named them. One of the law partners I work with is named Brandi. Smart people look beyond things like names.
I agree, but that doesn't mean there aren't dumb people out there in charge of hiring. Smart people also consider all possible options and potential consequences of a decision they make, especially when it involves their children.

I work with a very well-educated, well-respected woman named Bambi.
After getting to know her, I was talking to my brother and actually said, "Her name might as well be Jennifer!"
Ever since then I try not to judge based solely on name alone. Having said that, no Y. Zoe.
