I would second (or third) Brothers and Sisters and The Newsroom.

How about Longmire? Catastrophe?

It's not on Hulu.

I've only been able to find it on youtube.

It's a great show. The supporting cast is *excellent*, more interesting in fact than the two main characters.

Ditto to Last Tango in Halifax on Netflix. Sweet family drama from the UK. I was sucked in right away.

Other ideas:

Once and Again (I think only the first 2 seasons are available though)
Brothers and Sisters
thirtysomething
China Beach
ER
Veronica Mars
The West Wing

Does brothers and sisters have a plot that continues for the whole season? Or is each episode tidily wrap up the issue?

PP did say it was a "teen phase."

I watched VM as an adult. It's so awesome.

Brothers and Sisters is about *adult* siblings, not teens, FTR. Stars Calista Flockhart, Rob Lowe, Matthew Rhys (from the Americans), Rachel Griffiths, and Sally Field. And yes, it has continuing plot lines.

Hart of Dixie -- really light but cute. Along the lines of Gilmore Girls and Felicity (both great)
