My little half (!) sister is 16 years younger than I. She is taller by about a foot (her mom is 6', my mom is 5'2...), I am approximately 40 pounds heavier but we actually look very much alike.

From looks I could be her mom. Her short, fat and young mom but her mother never the less.

I've never heard that theory, but it describes my cousins. The first and third children (4 yrs apart) could be twins; they both take after their mother. The second child (1 yr younger than the oldest) takes after the father and looks completely unrelated to the other two.

No your theory is wrong. My sister is ten years older and a redhead. Sibling number two is blonde, sibling number three is brunette, and I am ten years younger but also a redhead. It's not just looks either. My husband's sister that is a year older is a combination of narcissistic and autistic and looks like she must have been someone else's child. His younger sister, by 15 years, is a dead ringer for him. Our daughter looks like a twin of this younger sister. Even though they have never met, our daughter has mannerisms and speech patterns like this younger sister.

I know at least 2 families off the top of my head where the 2 oldest kids look alije, and the 2 youngest kids look alike. One family, the 2 oldest look like dad, the middle child is kind of a loner, and the 2 youngest look just like mom. The other family of 4 kids is similar.

My three brothers are 5 and 11 years apart. They look so much alike, we have to check dates on photos to verify who is who.

I have 4 sons:
1 and 2 are 21 months apart
2 and 3 are 2.5 years apart
3 and 4 are 22 months apart

1 and 2 look some what alike, but 1 and 4 look almost exactly alike except one has brown eyes and the other has blue. 3 looks absolutely nothing like the rest of them. He looks more like my husband and the other three look more like me.

No way. My sister is 9 years older than me and we look absolutely nothing alike. My other sister is 3 years and we do look a lot alike.

My two are exactly 2 years apart and look so different. One has oliver skin and dark eyes, the other has Irish skin, green eyes and blonde hair.

Alleles associate at random. Basic Mendelian genetics. Sigh.
