Academically, you will find similarly good and dedicated teachers at both schools. Both schools seems to be well managed too. Among the student body at each school, there are likely a larger percentage of kids at Maret who are 99 percent SSAT scorers. Both schools send kids to Ivy League schools but Maret sends a few more, plus more to the very selective non-ivies. In sum, strictly from an academic perspective, I think the difference is that Maret has, say, 25 percent of kids with 95 percent and up SSAT scores, whereas for Landon that percentage its more like 25 percent are 90 percent and up.

Beyond academics, both schools have a lot to offer in music, arts, and theater. In sports, Landon is thought of as a more sporting than Maret - just take a look at their campuses and sports facilities. Both schools have coaches who are regularly commended in the Wash. Post.

Maret parent here. At the risk of sounding undiplomatic, I will offer my opinion that Maret and Landon are really not in the same league. Our son was admitted to St. Albans and we seriously considered it, but ultimately, we preferred a co-ed school. We didn't even look at Landon, based on our understanding that the academics were not comparable to those at St. Albans, Maret and the other schools we were considering.

He gets to do sports, which he loves and also do the school play and sing in the chorus. He came from a co-ed school ad I think the all boys experience has been great. It was very clear that the girls needed a different learning style than the boys and Landon knows boys! You'll obviously be fine with whatever you choose but just wanted to share our experience.
