They add more boarders sophomore year. That may be a way in if you don't make it in this round.

Madeira admits approximately 75 freshmen each year. There is a 49/51 split between day and boarders. It is increasingly difficult to get into the school regardless of boarding status.

Generally it is always harder to get into a boarding school as a day student than a boarder. The school wants to preserve it's boarding school culture, as well as fill its dorms, so they allocate many fewer spots to day students.

This year was pretty tough. They followed up with an email to accepted students saying you should be especially proud this year.

Most of the Day Students come from about 15-30min. away. Some from as far as Potomac or Alexandria.

Releasing two Madeira slots tonight or tomorrow. Very nice follow up email saying the admission was more competitive than normal. Hope that helps Wait List people.
