PP Here: I made a mistake - I contacted SG and learned that they also charge the same amount for PGD per cycle even with the shared risk program. So, I guess GWU seems like the better option since the reviews on SG are not so good.

Re: GWU's fees, give them a call and they'll walk you through the various fees (and your insurance coverage). PGD is about 4-5K, I think. I don't know anything about their shared risk program.

Thanks for the info on PGD. I wasn't at the class, but will look for the next one. I'm just going through the testing, but my RE thinks that PGD is going to be the right fit (multiple miscarriages and I'm 40). I feel the same way about the timing issue. I've spent a lot of the last year trying to get pregnant, then being pregnant for a couple of months, then miscarrying and waiting to move on and start all over.

Please do post an update after. I'd love to hear more.

What are the fees at GWU compared with SG? I have a consultation with SG next week, and it appears that the fee for IVF with PGD for the shared risk program is $24,000 if I qualify.
GWU appears to also have a shared risk program, but the fees for IVF with PGD are not listed on their website.

19:07 again. Meant to say I can't tell you how it went, but I'll post an update after I go through the process. I've been happy with GW so far.

PP, I'm doing PGD with them. I'm going that route specifically because I'm 41 and I just had 2 miscarriages in quick succession. The second mc had a pathology diagnosis of a chromosome problem. My RE at GW thinks it is likely the first was a chromosome problem too. I've lost a good 9 months of time due to being pregnant, miscarrying, getting pg again, another mc... So the rec was PGD to make sure (as much as possible ) that was is transferred is chromosomally normal.

Kind of curious whether you were at yesterday's IVF class - PGD came up a lot.

I am currently a patient at GWMF and using Dr. Dayal. I LOVE her. My FSH was 18 which got me turned away from other clinics that are solely focused on their success rates. Thisis a teaching and research hospital so they are not as concerned and will take older patients and women with higher FSH levels. Othe clinics made me feel like a cattle call, here I feel like a person. They are kind and considerate, flexible and responsive. I remember after my bloodwork when Dr. Dayal was delivering the "grim news" she actually paused when I began to cry, gave me tissue and reassured me of the positive before continuing on. I have never been treated like that by any doctor. I am seeing them in conjuction with an accupuncturist and will start my first IVF cycle soon and while I hope to get prego the first time, I will be OK. They have made this emotional journey so much easier for me to deal with. I highly reccomend them.

They offered shared risk when I went there (2 years ago). It's possible they stopped it though.

I went to GWU and really liked Dayal and Frankfurter. Frankfurter was my main dr and was really responsive. I would e-mail him ridiculous questions and get a call back from him or e-mail pretty promptly. One day after a consult after a failed IVF where I was about ready to kill my DH Dr F even called me the next day to see how I was because I seemed pretty upset. Unfortunately, they never got me pregnant but they treated me like a human being which is more than I can say for a clinic I went to in Reston.
Ultimately, I moved on to DE but it was my choice and never pushed by GWU. Good luck.

They're pretty competitive, although I do know they will match any other clinics prices.
