Is this a serious question? This is DCUM! Someone is always bashing some else for making choices different than their own. They rail on Edison because of the demographics - there are some FARMS and kids of color dragging down the test scores. Don't you know that if your kid doesn't go to THE best schools that their future is doomed? DOOMED!
It was a serious question. The people who s-t on it seem to suggest they have a connection to the school. Kid goes there or they teach there or their family member goes there or something . . .
I'm the PP you're responding to. Those people may have had a bad experience, heard of a bad experience or just trying to make themselves feel better. There's always going to be someone who is unhappy with what they've got or with what someone else has. FCPS is more than a decent system and an excellent education can be had at every school for kids who are typical. You can't rely on opinions spouted here. Go to Edison and take a tour.

Anonymous wrote:My daughter graduated from Edison last year and we were very happy with it. She did IB and I was impressed with the writing she did. She's doing great in college and attributes it to her teachers and experience in HS. She loved the theater dept. as well. We think it's kind of a hidden secret in FFX county. Some really nice neighborhoods, too.

I have heard great things about the whole chain--elementaries, Twain and Edison. I'd pick this area over the western end of the county (Westfield, Chantilly, Oakton, Langley) any day.
Langley is in the eastern part of the county. And inside the beltway, which many people don't realize.
Langley is NOT in the eastern part of the county. It is in the upper NW portion of Ffx County that backs to Montgomery County, and is barely inside the beltway. Eastern means West Po, Mt Vernon, Lee, Hayfield.
