I was very nervous when I read the reviews and was considering my placement. My daughter is in Kindergarten, and she has Mrs. Valera as a teacher. The communication is great, and I have tried my best to build relationships with the staff.

My daughter struggled in the beginning because she did not attend Pre-School and was also a bit behind. My daughter is an only child, and she is bilingual. Kindergarten was a bit scary for her in the beginning. The transition was a bit rough on my daughter because she is super clingy!

The teacher and her assistant worked really well with my daughter and did more focused exercises with her so she can learn and progress. Now, she is up to speed and behaves much differently. She now understands how to follow instructions, and how to finish her work on time. In daycare she would play for endless hours, and the structure was different. She went from being her own boss to following the rules.

I see that the new principal is very involved. She is really nice and knows who are her students. My daughter complains about the work and how it's a lot of work; however, this is a charter school that is STEM focused and is in tune with college readiness. I'm not sure what the future years will bring, but she enjoys it so far.

Wow this is interesting i would have thought by now the organization would have much improved. I actually put my child in the lottery for the elementary school for next year and was thinking of pulling him out of the TAG program so that he would be able to attend the middle and high school. Maybe i should give it more thought or a visit.

My child is now in their 3rd year at CMIT ES and I wish I had a better option for them. The organization and administration of the school has not improved much at all in the 3 years. Not only does it have high teacher turnover, it is on it's 3rd principal in 3 years. It also suffers from nepotism...to the extreme. If I had a better choice and/or could afford a private school, I'd pull them out in a second. This school gets a "D" in my book.

My daughter attends CMIT elementary and we love it. I only wish the county would provide bus service for the charter schools.

I am a student at CMIT Elementary. It is a really great schoool, although most people say it's bad, it is really good! Most students end up going to state fairs and beating high school students! And we are just Elementary!

Very accurate review. I have a 9th grader who has also decided to stay at CMIT. We've been there since 6th grade and I can definitely see things turning around. I've actually enjoyed dealing with the HS this year.

I think I know which Turkish teacher you are talking about and she is notorious for that. She is excessive with the PRS points. I complained about it and she stopped.

So... I heard that CMIT only had three 6th grade classes this year(2016-2017) which is a change because they usually have 6 classes. I think it was because they did not have enough space as the middle and high school share he same building. They are currently building a high school up the street which will be ready for the Fall semester. As all the reviews allude to, if your student is self motivated and high achieving everything will be fine. My student is a 7th grader and I have an 11th grader at CMIT-North. My 7th grader is a chatterbox and loses PRS points weekly which prevents him from going on field trips, dress down days and other activities, but he is an A student. Many of the teachers expect the child to sit still and not to question or engage. They had me feeling so bad about my child that I was starting to think maybe something was wrong with him. Then I realized that he really only gets PRS points from the Turkish teachers. I can not speak about all the classes, but I can speak about the advanced classes which are rigorous. Seventh grader is taking Algebra I and 11th grader is taking Calculus 2. It was the best option for a Prince George's School without having to pay tuition. Many students are prepared to test into Roosevelt science and tech program for high school after CMIT. My oldest did but wanted to stay at CMIT. She will be receiving a AA degree and a h.s diploma when he graduates next year. The school is not bad but not the hype. I also am liking that the school is becoming more diverse.
