Not everyone's house is new and/or cookie cutter. Our old house was built in the 1920s and only had two small closets. We had to buy a wardrobe for the basement and build a linen closet out of some extra hall space.

Where is the attic access? Is a drop down? Stairs? We have a walk in and two smaller closets. DH and I each have a small closet for our daily clothes and share the walk in for out if season stuff, dressy things we don't wear often, shoes, bags, etc. you could use your extra closet for stuff like that-things you don't use often.

I would use it to store the food from my garden i canned this summer and the preserves, jams, and jellies I made from our fruit trees. I only have about 600 jars because I had triplets this year and made partner at Biglaw. The other 6 DCs are so disappointed in not having the pickled okra to go with the handmade peanut butter.

NP here, not PP, but it's possible when your house is 150 years old. our 2500 square-foot house has three closets total and none on the first floor.

Old house, 1923, back when people used wardrobes and didn't have so much stuff. Thank god for our huge basement. I actually had to turn the smallest upstairs room into a big closet.
